Fund-raising

Fund-raising and Service

On the fund-raising side, we raise several thousand pounds each year, by a number of ventures, including assisting the well-known Xmas Sleigh, which visits widely in the Daventry area. Most years we also hold a barbecue or Summer Garden Party, which combines fundraising with social activity. We visit places of interest and organise charity auctions, bookstalls, a weekly tote and many other events.

On a civic level, for example, the Club donated the Sheaf Street Gazebo to the town and supports many local environmental initiatives.

The Sheaf Street Gazebo

On the National and International stage, Rotary has achieved a number of outstanding objectives, including the virtual elimination of polio by a campaign of vaccination in conjunction with the W.H.O. – some 1 billion doses have been administered World-wide, helping with the eradication of the disease.

We collect unwanted spectacles, with more than 10,000 having been sent to the 3rd world so far.

Here are some examples of our work:-
